Purpose of Your Role
The Audio Visual Estimator at Five 9's Communications is responsible for the accurate estimation, design, and sale of cutting-edge A/V systems. This role demands a deep knowledge of A/V and low voltage systems, along with strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. The estimator will maintain robust professional relationships with clients, vendors, partners, and team members, ensuring high standards of client service and project execution.
Project Analysis and Planning:
- Thoroughly analyze client requirements and project specifications for AV systems.
- Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and constraints.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimates.
Estimation and Quotation Development:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for AV projects, including equipment, labor, and additional services.
- Develop and present clear and concise proposal documents for clients, outlining the scope of work, costs, and project timelines.
Vendor and Product Selection:
- Research and select the most suitable AV equipment and products based on project needs and budget.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and product availability.
Technical Design and Documentation:
- Collaborate with design teams to create technical drawings and specifications for AV systems.
- Ensure all designs meet industry standards and client expectations.
Client Consultation and Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the estimation phase.
- Address client queries and provide expert advice on AV solutions.
- Regularly update clients on estimation progress and any changes to project scope or budget.
Collaboration with Project Teams:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and installation teams to ensure project plans are well-understood and feasible.
- Assist in the resolution of any technical challenges during the project lifecycle.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and quality benchmarks.
- Regularly review and update estimation processes and tools to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Continuous Learning and Industry Awareness:
- Stay informed about the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the AV industry.
- Attend industry events, workshops, and training sessions to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
Budget and Time Management:
- Monitor and manage project estimations to ensure they stay within budget and time constraints.
- Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising on quality or client requirements.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to estimates, client communications, and vendor agreements.
- Prepare regular reports on estimation activities and outcomes for senior management review.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in low voltage estimation.
- Proven expertise in A/V system design (5+ years).
- Required knowledge of Biamp (2 years), Crestron (2 years), and Bluebeam (2 years).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong technical writing skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- High degree of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Vendor certifications and experience in vendor relationship management preferred.
