The Department of Computer Science in the College of Engineering at Texas Tech University (TTU) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Associate Professor in Computer Science position to begin in Fall 2024.
Preferred Qualifications
We are looking for outstanding candidates in all core and emerging areas of Computer Science. In addition to the required qualifications, we strongly encourage candidates in quantum computing, data science, artificial intelligence, and computer systems areas to apply.
Required Qualifications
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants must have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service. Additional required qualifications are:
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related fields;
- Applicants must be able to teach undergraduate and graduate core and elective courses in Computer Science;
- Applicants must have proven record in building research teams at the university or national level, playing a leading role in obtaining significant external research funding, and having internationally impactful publications;
- Applicants must be able to take service duties for the department, college, and university as needed.
About the Department and/or College
The Department of Computer Science offers four degree programs, including Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Software & Security Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science. As of Fall 2023, the department has 347 undergraduate major students and 731 graduate students, including 660 Masters and 71 PhD students. The College of Engineering was founded in 1925 as one of the original academic areas when Texas Tech opened in 1923. The Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering offers nine engineering bachelor's programs and one master's level program accredited by the EAC of ABET, and one Computer Science program accredited by CAC of ABET. The college offers 12 additional master's, and 8 doctoral degree programs. The college has 4679 undergraduate and 1550 graduate students and 158 full-time faculty members. Total restricted research expenditures in 2022 fiscal year were $17.9M. The college awarded 875 BS, 446 MS and 59 PhD degrees in the 2022-23 academic year.
