LDC is in beautiful Woodinville, a city in King County, Washington State. The population is 13,069 and is only 19 miles or about 30 minutes northeast of the larger Seattle, Metropolitan area. The Associate Planner works with and provides assistance to the planners and engineers through coordination and document production. The Associate Planner works within the guidelines of company policies and procedures but also practices significant independent judgment to choose proper actions.
Reports to: Senior Vice President with direct supervision from Principal Planner(s)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support to planners, engineers, and project managers through coordination, meeting attendance, document preparation, etc.
- Research jurisdictional requirements, codes, and policies.
- Find, maintain, and fill out jurisdictional forms and applications.
- Submit permit forms and applications.
- Assist with preparation of RFP/RFQ responses for planning/engineering projects.
- Prepare GIS maps.
- Assist and support on long range planning and policy projects.
- Attend pre-application, application, and pre-construction meetings as needed.
- Attend client meetings and conference calls as needed.
- Coordinate with sub-consultants for needed services.
- Attend site walks as needed.
- Perform records requests and resulting record review.
- Proofread and review documents for Planners, Engineers, and Project Managers.
- Pick up and deliver plans and documents to jurisdictions and clients.
- Prepare project narratives and response letters.
- Project feasibility and project layouts.
Skills and Specifications
- Knowledge of municipal and state standards and code.
- Multitasking and prioritizing.
- Communication skills as to when to involve upper management and how to communicate with project team.

Education, Qualifications, Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, civil engineering, political science, economics, environmental sciences; AND two (2) years of experience in a related field. Work related experience may be substituted for the required education or training on a year-for-year basis.
- Valid Washington driver’s license
Physical Considerations
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, such as personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone and calculator.
- Ability to perform repetitive, finer hand and arm movements, including filing, reaching, carrying, pushing, lifting, and bending.
- Work activities involve combination of sitting for longer periods and intermittent standing/walking.
