The Associate Graphic Designer must demonstrate a mastery over design, typography, and Illustration. They will need excellent creative competence, technical production skills, and have in-depth knowledge of screen print and embroidery design and production. The Graphic Designer will provide effective creative art as production-ready files for the creation of screen print separations, embroidery, and appliques. This job requires well developed verbal and written communication skills. You will be a remote member of the Kansas City-based graphic design team but reside in the NYC office.
- Creative responsibility of Champion’s North America athletic trends and contemporary lifestyle segments as aligned to the Champion brand aesthetic.
- Responsible for new creative concepts for seasonal lines, sketch requests, special art collections, collaborations, sales presentations, trend presentations and events.
- Excellent design skills, color sense, trending expertise, mastery in production/technical setups and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Verbally presents graphic ideas in design groups and team meetings.
- Owns a strong understanding of screen print, embroidery, and apparel decoration production requirements.
- Possesses strong market knowledge.
- Research current market trends in garment decoration processes, graphic trends, art locations & techniques, and develops new art/technique concepts accordingly.
- Collaborates with New York Design, Winston-Salem Merchandising, and clients directly.
- Travel occasionally to work with internal partners, attend trade shows, and retail trending.
- Must be able to react, respond, and create very quickly in complex and fast paced situations.
- Will assist graphic design senior manager and design directors with creative collateral.
- Self-starter with a high capacity to prioritize and time-manage their workload.
- Outstanding attention to detail and highly communicative and collaborative.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office 365.
- Associate degree required with at least 3+ years of experience or a 4-year degree preferred with 2+ years’ experience in the apparel industry.
- Degree and/or experience in graphic design required.
- Understanding of foundational design – composition, color relationships, and balance.
- Excels working under firm deadlines.
The pay range for this position is $58,000 to $88,000 per year.
