Inpatient Therapist
Provides behavioral health initial evaluations, individual sessions and group psychotherapy sessions to patients admitted to the inpatient adult psychiatric unit at Baptist Health Richmond. The Inpatient Therapist provides psychoeducational information, crisis interventions, de-escalation techniques with solution-focused therapy interventions to individuals and a groups. Completes individual assessment upon admission and ongoing sessions for crisis intervention throughout admission. Creates and updates the individual treatment planning throughout admission to meet patient's individual needs. Collaborates to provide the patient with family education, group counseling and multidisciplinary support. Staffs case with attending providers to collectively determine recommendations and participates in treatment team staffing and safety planning for discharge. Makes regular contact with licensed supervisor and/or clinical manager to ensure accurate recommendations are made. Coordinates aftercare planning, completes referrals to alternative levels of care, schedules appointments and connects to community resources as appropriate. Assists with utilization review. Takes periodic on call coverage, and responds in timely manner within (1) hour.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and
Licensures/Certifications/Registrations Required:
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field. Must hold credentials of either Certified Social Worker (CSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Associate (LPCA), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and maintain licensure and good standing with Kentucky Boards of Social Work and Professional Counseling.
Skills and Abilities Required: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience. Preferably has experience completing psychiatric and substance use disorder assessments. Knowledge of the various levels of care and community resources. The ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner with treatment team members including physician, NP, PA, RN, and others as necessary. The ability to navigate and document within the EMR. The ability to understand the clinicals provided for inpatient psychiatric and medical detox precertifications with Medicaid MCOs and private insurances.
