Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Enterprise Source to Pay Services, the Associate Director – Sourcing is accountable for developing, managing, and executing the sourcing strategies, all indirect categories of spend across the enterprise. This leader will be an integral member the Source to Pay leadership team, a key business partner to Finance Leaders and Category Leaders and the process owner of the Sourcing Process.

The Associate Director – Sourcing will be responsible for:

  • Leadership of the Sourcing team in the execution of sourcing initiatives across Enterprise Procurement & Supplier Management.

  • Strong Engagement: This position will be a key business partner to the Procurement Category Leaders, Contract Management Leader and Finance Leaders and will be tasked with gaining a deep understanding of the category and sourcing strategies in place to drive the greatest value from the external marketplace.

  • Partner with the Category Leaders and Contract Management Leader to identify, prioritize, and pursue short-, mid- and long-term sourcing opportunities.

  • Drive strong demand planning and management, and budget alignment.

  • Leading Sourcing Planning, Execution and Optimization: Lead the Sourcing team development, execution and monitoring of sourcing initiatives that drive valuable business outcomes.

  • Support the savings forecasting process with visibility to pipeline initiatives that will yield savings.

  • Drive year-on-year savings and other savings initiatives (payment terms, etc.) to support departmental goals and objectives.

  • Drive strong alignment with Finance in the validation of savings. Ensure execution of tail spend management strategies, in collaboration with the Category Leaders.

  • Ensure diverse suppliers are included in sourcing opportunities as a standard practice in the execution of sourcing initiatives.

  • Lead the optimization of the sourcing process, leveraging departmental platforms and simplifying the stakeholder experience.

  • Lead and develop the blended Sourcing team into a high performing team of sourcing professionals who develop sourcing strategies and source suppliers against business requirements for the breadth of engagements that drive significant value to Humana’s operations or profitability.

  • Optimize collaboration with the Contract Management organization, ensuring further streamlining of operations in how we drive commercial and contractual value.

Impact

  • Develop and lead appropriate sourcing strategies that support business requirements, develop savings targets, and driving savings across all categories of spend.

  • Drive thought leadership for sourcing of categories by leveraging market and industry intelligence, trends, innovation, and best practices.

  • Recruit, develop and lead a team of high performing sourcing professionals who are responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and pursuing short and long- term sourcing opportunities for all spend categories, in collaboration with the Category Leaders and Contract Management team.

  • Develop supplier negotiation strategies that reflect and maximize Humana’s enterprise buying power, focus on service quality/performance and minimize risk exposure. Lead negotiation process for complex, high value transactions.

  • Actively participate in achieving the organization's ESG goals including but not limited to Supplier Diversity and Sustainability.

  • Collaborate with Supplier Management Leadership Team to drive sourcing rigor / excellence, talent management and optimization of the procurement target operating model within Enterprise Procurement and Supplier Management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • 10+ years in a procurement function with strong sourcing and negotiations experience across multiple indirect categories.

  • 5 years of management experience, leading sourcing teams or sourcing centers of excellence through both authority and influence; including a proven ability to recruit, develop and retain key talent.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement sourcing strategies, concepts, and governance.

  • Strong experience in sourcing externalization including vendor base (market leaders and niche providers), service offerings/differentiation, cost and savings drivers and leading practices/market trends.

  • Evidence of the ability to influence senior leaders and to foster productive working relationships with a diverse group of partners and peers.

  • Examples of contract/vendor negotiation preparation and execution skills with suppliers

  • Strong conceptual thinking skills with adeptness to lead others through ambiguous and/or complex issues.

  • Ability to build consensus as an independent arbiter to achieve sourcing outcomes that meet business requirements without sacrificing service or increasing risk/cost.

  • Experience using Coupa Sourcing and similar platforms to execute and manage sourcing events.

  • Experience using SpendHQ or similar platforms to manage sourcing pipeline and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant procurement and supply management certifications desirable.

  • MBA or advanced degree desirable.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$123,800 - $170,400 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
