Job Summary

To assist in actualizing our mission, we seek candidates for the position of Director of Admissions. This position's job responsibilities are as follows:
CoSW Admissions Management
  • oversee student admissions for college programs across all campus locations included but not limited to the undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work and criminal justice, the University Scholars Programs, certificates, and other academic programming
  • work closely with other University offices to ensure a straightforward admissions process for special segments including online students, international students, DACA, military-affiliated students, and others
  • keep the Dean's office apprised of status updates and any issues with recruitment, admission, and enrollment processing
  • work with the Director of Recruitment, the Admissions Committee, and the MarComms team to develop and deploy the strategic recruitment and enrollment plan
  • organize Admissions Committee meetings and other related events

Service Excellence in Admissions Office Administration
  • work in partnership with other stakeholders (internal and external) throughout the college and university to meet objectives and associated requirements set by the President, Provost and the college Dean
  • develop and secure effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and leaders within and across the organizational lines to achieve desired outcomes
  • involve others in developing strategy and corresponding tactics in setting and evaluation performance objectives and measures. Support the development of less experienced employees
  • think broadly and long-term, recognizing the impact of decisions and actions on the entire University and its clients (internal and external) over time
  • promote the importance of employee development and supervise and direct admissions office staff
  • develop and provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for the admissions team. Plan, apportion, and determine work techniques amongst those staff members to fulfill all admissions functions.
  • assist program directors with the cadence of the admissions cycles
  • monitor all staff work to ensure compliance with FERPA and admissions acceptances protocols.

Applicant Journey and Admissions Platform Management
  • develop and implement a communication plan for prospective applicants and admitted students who are not yet matriculated, in line with the CoSW's mission statement
  • maintain and update emails, texts, Slack channels, website content, and other related materials
  • serve as the primary contact with UK services and outside vendors to coordinate events
  • create and deliver presentations to advisors and applicants regarding policies, procedures, and technical standards for the admissions process
  • evaluate applicant coursework and academic transcripts from high schools, Community Colleges, and Universities on demand
  • create and deliver training material for all admissions reviewers
  • serve as the system administrator for any admissions software systems, ensuring that all systems are appropriately configured for the successful implementation of admissions processes across all programs
  • develop and deliver training modules for staff, faculty and administrators to teach the the appropriate functionalities of applications and admissions systems for their roles
  • serve as the primary liaison with the third-party vendors regarding technical issues, software updates, or other related business

Data Analytics & Reporting
  • collect, analyze, and utilize data to inform application processes, recruitment and outreach strategies and decisions
  • develop and implement effective protocols and procedures for an effective and regulatory-compliant admissions process, including application screening, application completion tracking, and selection process
  • develop and implement a communication plan for each application process and ensure the application process is streamlined and consistently applied
  • serve as the primary contact for admissions related staffing such as online services team, etc.
  • develop and maintain databases and data systems for admission and recruitment utilization
  • use statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets that could be helpful for assessment of admissions policies, application processing and/or potential publications
  • design and implement insightful visualizations and metrics to make complex data accessible
  • prepare admission-related analysis reports per leadership's request.

Strategic Leadership
  • responsible for maintaining the policy and procedure manual for admissions, recommending updates to ensure compliance with accreditation standards
  • works across the College to ensure compliance with all state, federal, and/or accreditation requirements regarding recruitment, admissions, and enrollment
  • participates in local and national meetings to maintain contemporary knowledge regarding admissions trends and policies
  • educates staff, faculty, and administration on the admissions process
  • supervises admissions personnel who facilitate the application review process
