As our AVP of MMB, you are responsible for leading a book of business, serving as a top Underwriter, and leading and building a successful team of underwriting professionals. A large part of this role will be analyzing and underwriting renewal business for Commercial Lines. You will be responsible for a $30M book of business, which includes determining risk acceptability, pricing, underwriting guidelines, developing positive agency relationships within assigned territories, auditing underwriting files and accounts, and improving on underwriting processes. As a People Leader at Velocity, you will be empowered to lead and develop a team of Underwriters. You will coach and mentor your team on underwriting best practices, building their skills and proficiency, and helping them better understand the MGA business and our corporate strategies. You will help guide and teach the next level of leaders (Sr. Underwriters) what it takes to be a successful underwriter and a valuable people leader. As a leader, you will play a key role in collaborating across business units to provide valuable insight and strategic thought partnership to develop further our other business unit functions and processes.
In addition to your role as Assistant Vice President MMB, you will also serve as Chicago's Branch Manager. In this role you will oversee the operations of the Chicago firm location. The Chicago Office administrator will report directly to you providing support in the day-to-day responsibilities of organizing, coordinating, planning, stocking, ordering, receiving guests, etc. You will be responsible for supervising the staff on a day-to-day basis.

Demonstrated Experience for success in this role...
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
- 10+ years of commercial insurance experience
- Professional insurance designations a plus
- Previous management and leadership experience
