The Assistant Vice President, Benefits & Wellness will serve as a key member of the Total Rewards team, focusing on leading the comprehensive planning, evaluation design, and administration of Fortitude's benefits and wellness programs and policies. In partnership with the VP, Total Rewards, this role will develop the strategic vision for Benefits and Wellness ensuring offerings align with Total Rewards strategy.

The role will effectively partner with People & Culture Practice, key stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams, such as Finance, Payroll, and Legal to deliver a comprehensive Benefits & Wellness package.

What You Will Do:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a strategic vision for employee benefits and wellness programs aligned with the total rewards strategy, business priorities, and employee needs.
  • Benefits Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefit programs including health, retirement, insurance, and other benefits. Conduct ongoing analyses and reviews of programs to determine market competitiveness, utilization, and employee preferences. Plan and execute annual benefits open enrollment process, communicating effectively with employees, and providing guidance to ensure employees make informed decisions. Leverage technology to simplify internal processes and increase efficiency.
  • Wellness Initiatives: Develop and promote wellness initiatives aimed at improving employee health, engagement, and productivity. This may include fitness programs, mental health support, nutrition initiatives, and stress management programs.
  • Leave Administration: Responsible for administering and monitoring claims, communicating with employees, managers, leave management vendors, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers, and tracking and reporting on leaves.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with benefits vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure services meet company standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure benefits programs comply with relevant laws and regulations. Generate reports and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Employee Communication & Support: Communicate benefit offerings and wellness programs effectively to employees through various channels, ensuring clear understanding and engagement. Consistently communicate the value of benefit offerings as part of Fortitude's total rewards portfolio to help attract, engage, and motivate employees. Provide guidance and support to employees regarding benefit-related questions and problem-solving.

What You Will Have:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in benefits design and administration, and wellness programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, etc.) preferred.
  • Knowledge of benefits regulations, including experience with LOA, trends, and best practices in Benefits and Total Rewards approaches.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive initiatives and influence change as well as execute day-to-day accountabilities, collaborative effectively with cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc. Demonstrated a high level of program/project management skills.
  • Proficiency in benefits management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

The base salary range for this role is listed below and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

Base Salary Range

$108,900—$138,800 USD
