ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) and General Administration Endorsement. Applicants should have a minimum of seven years of experience in teaching and/or educational administration.
Applicants must submit a letter of interest, resume or curriculum vitae outlining qualifications and experience, copies of certification/endorsements and three (3) letters of recommendation.

Applicants should have knowledge and be able to articulate, document through experience, orverify involvement in the following:
- Comprehensive background in school district operations with a strong emphasis on K-12 curriculum and instruction
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of Illinois/district discipline policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the District’s curriculum and applicable student instructional services
- Use of instructional practices which are proven to be effective in advancing student achievement
- Knowledge of and experience with Illinois/district policies and procedures for evaluating administrators, certified staff and educational support personnel
- Effective use of technology including Google and Microsoft Suite
- Ongoing participation in professional growth and development programs
- Understanding and ability to advance the district vision and mission of behalf of students, parents, staff and our communities
- Experience and ability to manage and execute grants/grant activities including fiscal oversight of grant-related expenditures
- Demonstrated experience in program development and implementation driven by student data/needs
- Ability to identify district/school improvement opportunities and initiate actionable steps to drive improvements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confer with families, staff and community leaders on matters affecting the schools and respond to questions and concerns in a prompt and respectful manner.
- Facilitate, monitor and assess the District Improvement Plan process in accordance and compliance of with state requirements.
- Provide oversight, direction and management of the Title grants as well as other grants.
- Recommend to the Superintendent new or replacement curricula and instructional resources as needed in cooperation with principals, teachers and staff.
- In consultation with appropriate staff, recommend to the Superintendent the annualassignments of teachers and instructional support staff.
- Act as a working liaison with governmental, social, professional, civic, and volunteer agencies.
- Participate in interviews for new employees as deemed appropriate.
- Provide oversight of student assessment programs and progress monitor reports and data sets on student progress.
- Direct K-8 summer school, after-school and prevention programs.
- Serve as the district homeless liaison and support families experiencing housing insecurity.
- Lead and evaluate the district’s instructional programs – including alternate learning programs.
- Serve as the determining official for all guardianship, emancipations and residency services.
- Seek and implement innovative programs and services for students/staff/families.
- Evaluate principals, certified staff and educational support personnel as assigned.
- Ensure that State and Federal reporting requirements are satisfied by preparing and timely submitting reports to the proper agencies.
- Review and approve professional development and conference requests.
- Participate in all collective bargaining between the District and Alton Education Association.
- Assess, identify and implement professional development and training opportunities for staff.19. Attend Board of Education meetings and prepare any reports for the Board as may be recommended, requested or required.
- Establish and maintain a program of personal and professional growth.
- Serve as the District’s Title IX Investigator and Universal Complaint Manager under board policy.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
