Position Summary:
The assistant golf course superintendent/chemical technician reports directly to the golf course superintendent and senior Assistant Superintendent. Under the superintendent's supervision, the Assistant Superintendent/chemical technician directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and other turf areas; supervises the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems; and does chemical applications to areas on the golf course. The Assistant Superintendent/chemical technician may serve in the superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways; schedules work; and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment.
- Performs chemical applications on golf course properties; fertilizes tees, greens and fairways; and applies chemicals on the greens.
- Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.

Education/Experience:
- 2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Management or related field.
- 2 or more years' experience in golf course maintenance or a related field.
- Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is also preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Obtain a North Carolina Pesticide License within 6 months of hire.
- Maintain a valid North Carolinas driver's license.
- Complete knowledge of chemical application equipment.
- Responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with golfers, faculty, staff, students, and university officials.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment.
- Upon hire, have a broad knowledge of, and abide by, Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX and FERPA guidelines.
