Assistant Superintendent/Executive Director

General Definition of Work
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of supervisory and administrative tasks directing and carrying out the tasks and goals of Mitchell County Schools.
Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
- Career and Technical Education Director- Plans, develops, and implements a comprehensive program for students in career and technical education
- Works with the Athletic Director to oversee the grades 6-12 athletic program
- Ensures schools have a plan for emergencies and school safety and works with local agencies to prepare for emergency situations
- Develops and executes maintenance and construction programs and supervises maintenance department staff
- Works closely with various school officials and department heads to determine current and future needs
- Responsible for all aspects of identification, planning, development, budgeting and execution of projects associated with maintenance and repair of school facilities
- Enforces state, local, and school system policies and standards
- Serves as liaison for Mitchell County Schools with Mayland Community College
- Works with the Mitchell/Avery YMCA to oversee Afterschool Program

- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to:
- Prepare, read and comprehend a variety of job related forms, reports, spreadsheets, maps, plans, records, documentation and correspondence in all languages required by the job
- Understand and conform to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
- Speak to individuals or groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence
- Respond adequately to inquiries and complaints
- Write using standard convention in all languages required by the job
- Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education related field
- Current license as a principal or CTE program area
- 5 years of work experience within the past 8 years (Teacher, CTE Support Services, Supervisory, or Administrative Experience)
- A minimum of two years supervising or administering Career and Technical Education Programs (Examples include program area director (secondary, elementary, curriculum, EC, AIG, testing/accountability, ESL, student services, human resources, technology), assistant/associate superintendent, superintendent, assistant principal, or required
- Hold or willing to obtain Career and Technical Education Director License
