The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager and Superintendent for assigned projects. Primary responsibility is administering the submittal, request for information, documentation management and close-out processes, and progress reporting on these activities. Other charges may include aspects of pre-construction planning, buyout, scheduling, change orders, commissioning and turnover, and meeting coordination.

Responsibilities
Submittal Management
- Oversees the identification, logging, tracking and distribution of submittal items.
- Expedites the review, approval, and close-out process.
- Request for Information (RFI) Management
- Logs, tracks, and distributes RFIs.
- Expedites the response, decision notification and close-out process.
Documentation Management
- Logs new drawings and sketches.
- Maintains procurement log.
- Coordinates with the field to assure that office and field documents are reconciled.
- Close-out Management
- Oversees the close-out process including development of requirements check list; request and receipt of close-out materials including As-Built documentation, warranties, guarantees, operations manuals, and service/maintenance data; scheduling systems training; and packaging and distribution of close-out materials to the Owner and others.
Reporting
- Provides monthly and on-request reports on submittal, RFI and close-out status.
- Subcontractor Selection Support
- Assists in evaluating subcontractors for work.
- Assists in negotiating contracts or purchase orders with subcontractors and vendors.
- Assists with pre-qualification process for subcontractors.
Schedule Development Support
- Secures subcontractor or vendor lead, delivery, and installation time information to support development of project schedules.
Meeting Support
- Attends and contributes to weekly and monthly project meeting
- Develops meeting minutes on request.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, work well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
- Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in construction science, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering preferred.
- 4+ years of construction related experience; internships may be included.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- May require travel.
