EMPLOYMENT TERMS:Full-time, Tenure track position
PRIMARY DUTY: Teach primarily general chemistry lecture and labs, and a course in Physical Chemistry lecture and lab. The successful candidate may also be asked to develop and teach new course(s) related to areas of their specialization. Expertise in materials or polymer science is especially desirable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Teach course work in the introductory chemistry sequence, lecture and lab.
  2. Teach course work, lecture and lab, in an upper-level course of Physical Chemistry.
  3. Teach other courses as assigned, carrying a teaching load of 12 load hours per semester.
  4. Engage in scholarly activity related to the discipline, preferably involving undergraduate researchers.
  5. Participate in the business of the department by attending departmental meetings, preparation of curricula focused on their area of expertise, and provide support to other faculty members.
  6. Assist in the maintenance of equipment in the laboratory, develop plans for laboratory practical sessions, and provide materials to students.
  7. Serve the Department and University on committees as assigned.
  8. Hold seven office hours/week.
  9. Meet with students outside of class time for additional instruction and mentorship as appropriate.
  10. Create and maintain an environment conducive to excellence in teaching, learning, and research.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in physical or inorganic chemistry or a closely related field. Candidates nearing completion of their degree may be considered. Experimentalists with research interests in the areas of sustainable materials or technology, materials science, nanoscience, next-generation energy technologies, green manufacturing, or sustainability-enhancing technologies are especially encouraged to apply. A successful candidate will be strongly committed to teaching and creating an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
