Job Duties
As a full-time faculty member, will be assigned to teach the equivalent of 24 credit hours during the academic year as assigned on-campus located in Jersey City, the collateral duties normally associated with such a full-time position of instruction as specified in the Academic Handbook. This position also oversees the BS degree in Data Science. Other duties are associated with the management of the Data Science and business analytics programs.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000

Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
  1. Provide overall leadership and vision for the University's Data Science Bachelor's in DS degree program including development, managing distance learning initiatives, course scheduling, maintaining accreditation, long-range planning, business partnership development, and student recruiting and retention.
  2. Conduct ongoing program reviews of student lifecycle services, and tracking, assessing, and reporting on student programs and the program's outcomes.
  3. Plan and create lectures for both online and in-class discussions and assignments.
  4. Advise students across the program and monitor Adjunct Professors across the program.
  5. Collaborate with technology companies to get the current technologies in the industries like Power BI, Azure Machine Learning and have a similar way of opportunity to learn from the program for all the students.
  6. Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
  7. Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem and project-based learning demonstrations.
  8. Perform related duties, such as advising students on academic and vocational curriculum, and actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  9. Confer with members of educational committees and advisory groups to obtain knowledge of subject teaching areas and to relate curriculum materials to specific subjects and individual student needs and areas.
  10. Participate in departmental and university-wide committees and advisory groups focused on the further development of the University's Data Science programs.
  11. Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  12. Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  13. Develop internal and external advisory relationships with area employers and other departments within the University.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

  2. Ability to appropriately use and demonstrate proficiency with standard office productivity software, tools, and University systems, such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite equivalents.
  3. Ability to efficiently organize and manage large amounts of data, information, and records; attention to detail; and well-organized.
  4. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at all levels of the organization. Strong written and communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships with various members of the organization.
  5. Ability to provide high-quality, strong customer-oriented services, including problem-solving orientation; strong listening skills; expertise in advising and consulting; history of coordinated work effort with extensive follow-through and follow-up; experience identifying customer needs; conflict resolution; ability to put customers before self; and creation of user-friendly communications.

Qualification Standards
  1. PhD in Data Science or a closely related field (ABD may be considered).
  2. A minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience in Data Science and Machine Learning to demonstrate sufficient knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and database applications; Blackboard and Ellucian Colleague systems or similar LMS/student management programs.
  4. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others; to present information clearly and concisely; and excellent verbal and written communication skills also required.

Education
PhD in Data Science or a closely related field (ABD may be considered).
Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience in Data Science and Machine Learning to demonstrate sufficient knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Working Conditions
Full-time, on campus; ability to work the standard academic schedule. In addition to regular business hours, the person in this position must be able to be flexible around the needs of the University, which includes occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
Physical requirements
Physical Requirements:
  1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  2. Move about both inside the office and at other locations where interviews and meetings are conducted.
  3. Frequently operates a computer for extended periods of time.
  4. Frequently communicates with others over the phone and in person; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  5. Ability to speak clearly and communicate proficiently in English.
