Position Summary
The purpose of this managerial position is to lead and manage the production/operations floor in the production department so that productivity, quality and delivery is maximized and costs are minimized to achieve profitability.
Technical Skill Requirements:
- AS Degree in business, engineering or operations management or equivalent professional experience
- 4-6 years professional experience in a manufacturing department and automotive
- Solid knowledge of extrusion manufacturing processes and technologies
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and tooling and how it operates
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Excellent ability to prioritize work and allocate resources
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Ability to understand human behavior and motivate employees

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direction and support to production team leaders For all 3 shifts Plan, prioritize and assign work in order to meet production schedules
- Problem solve issues and determine corrective action
- Order supplies, as needed
- Ensure safety of production workers
- Create reports and provide information Generate financial and labor cost reports
- Provide data to management
- Lead and support continuous improvement program Conduct time studies for cycle time
- Monitor production trials and offer solutions to issues
- Perform model changeovers and optimize
- Assist in housekeeping projects (2S2T)
- Manage employee issues Attendance, discipline, recruiting, appraising, training and employee relations issues
- Other projects and duties, as assigned
- Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for the following positions: production team leaders. Duties include planning work for subordinates, evaluate, observe and appraise performance, develop, coach and hold subordinates accountable for results.
Supervision Received
Receives general direction; supervisor established only very broad goals. Employee participates heavily in setting work objectives
Environment and Conditions
Contacts
The incumbent spends approximately up to 15% of his/her time developing and maintaining business contacts within the organization and up to 15% of his/her time with external contacts. The purpose of these contacts is to communicate delivery information, to communicate quality, defect and countermeasure information, to communicate materials information and to exchange information with customers regarding delivery and quality.
Working Conditions
This position works in an open office environment. Exposure to weather elements is not likely. Incumbents are not likely to drive a vehicle while performing job responsibilities. Incumbents spend approximately 20% sitting, 60% standing and 20% walking in the course of this position and are unlikely to lift anything greater than 50 pounds. Incumbents will use the following office machines while performing job duties: computer, printer, copier, fax, telephone and calculator. Also uses QS9000 manuals.
