Assistant Facilities Manager

The Assistant Facilities Manager is responsible for and supervises the maintenance, care, and efficient operation of the school facilities and grounds. The role also oversees health and safety compliance for the building and grounds. It also supports leaders with projects, including construction, and vendor management.

Capital Prep Middletown is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follows through on assignments, daily inspections, and reports issues to Senior Facilities Manager/principals.

  • Maintains the building and grounds in compliance with federal, state and local laws.

  • Participates in the planning and execution of building projects that include renovations, upgrades of space, interior reconfigurations, and cosmetic improvement and related projects. Supports small renovation projects independently including coordination of various trades.

  • Maintains required records and reporting as outlined in the policies and procedures of the facility.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations for building/facility maintenance, as well as equipment, and machinery, including HVAC, building lighting systems, grounds keeping, and overall facility appearance. Responsible for building issues/security breaches on off hours.

  • Works closely and in collaboration with facilities leaders and acts as lead for building safety, building health, and compliance.

  • Supports the school-based facilities team.

  • Conducts safety reviews and monitors building operations.

  • Ensures building maintenance and support services such as cleaning, fire safety, security, and energy efficiency standards and requirements.

  • Liaises with clients and contractors as needed.

  • Supports the development of a strategic management system in conjunction with the Executive Director of Facilities, Construction, & Fleet, for the benefit of an organization’s infrastructure and people.

  • Point person for refurbishments, repairs, and renovations.

  • Performs any and all duties as may be assigned by Administration.

Reports to:

  • Senior Facilities Manager

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in all phases of facilities management, including familiarity with HVAC, mechanical, electrical, monitoring, and control systems preferred.

  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills to work effectively in a strong service environment that is subject to changing priorities. Strong organizational skills are a must

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.

  • Position typically involves moderate to heavy physical activity and exertion, including heavy lifting and working in tight/awkward spaces.

  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities and must be able to access and navigate equipment and tools.

  • Agreement with the academic goals and vision/mission of Capital Preparatory Schools;

  • Demonstrated effective collaboration and communication skills;

  • Demonstrated effective problem solving, planning and organizational skills;

  • Demonstrated effective training and presentation skills;

  • Ability to structure own time and manage multiple priorities;

  • Exhibited leadership in working with professional staff, students, and the community.

  • Detail orientation and project management experience.


Education and Related Work Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and minimum (2) years of facilities experience.


Compensation:

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Capital Preparatory Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package. This is a twelve month, full-time, exempt position, which is vacation eligible. Regular hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily (subject to modification).

Evening, weekends, and travel are required for this role and this is an in-person role.
