Job Description
Summary of Position:
To provide support to the Executive Director in the management of a growing insurance company. This position is part of a succession plan to ensure continuity in management and operations for the foreseeable future. The candidate for this position must be interested in learning all aspects of the insurance business, including underwriting, claims, insurance accounting, reinsurance, and personnel management and will be shadowing and training in all aspects Company operations. The Company currently has under ten employees, manages in excess of 8000 policies and is approaching $10M in revenues. The Company has been growing steadily each year. This is an exempt position reporting directly to the Executive Director. The general hours of operations are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The Company has a robust benefits package, which will be shared with eligible candidates.
Qualifications (please note that these are minimum required qualifications. Applicants without these will not be considered):
- Bachelor's or associate degree in business, finance, business management or organizations (required)
- Property and Casualty insurance license (required)
- Minimum of 2-5 years in the insurance industry (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in management (required)
- Must possess strong communication, management and customer service skills (required)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily operations of the company, working directly with all employees.
- Controls new business flow by informing agents of the company’s target markets.
- Works with rating bureaus, state filings and forms.
- Works with accountant for quarterly and year-end reports.
- Addresses personnel and personnel issues of the office staff.
- Evaluates the job performance of the office staff on an annual basis.
- Functions as the main contact for the operation, maintenance, and upgrades for the computer network
- Other duties and tasks as directed.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements
- Must be able to apply basic accounting principles
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English
- Must be able to use small office equipment such as computers, telephones, adding machines, copiers etc.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time, with the ability to stand and walk as necessary
- Indoor, office setting is the primary work environment
- Must be able to travel to and from the office and external meetings
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional bending at the waist and knees and reaching above shoulder height
- Occasionally lift and move 20 lbs. to 25 lbs.
