Job Summary
Responsibility for collaboration for and assisting with all creative aspects and operations of Video Services Department; while specializing in short form media production. Direct, oversee and administer broadcast technological practices and application within the scope of live event production.Duties & Responsibilities
Live Event Production
- Oversee BTN Student U broadcasts/Illinois streaming broadcasts
- Staffing, recruiting, and training students for BTN Student U broadcasts and FightingIllini live events
- Maintaining broadcast equipment, production switcher, fiber conversion equipment, cameras, audio equipment and graphics hardware
- Live event production where there is a LED display for DIA athletic events
- DIA Special events
Post Production
- Collaborating with Video Services staff in all operational functions
- Conceptualizing and implementing video scoreboard production animation and still graphics, features and activities displayed during home games where there is a LED display; fulfilling media, institution and internal requests for footage; coordinating, managing and cataloging, video archives for each sports they are assigned
- Responsible for all aspects of the production process from start to finish:
- Conceptualizing, coordinating, writing, shooting, and editing videos for Fightingillini.com, Fighting Illini Athletics, in-venue video boards
- Collaborating with the DIA staff to create marketing, publicity, highlight, banquet, and other feature videos
- Assisting with production of Big Ten Network content
- Producing television or webisode show features and content; and
- Other duties as assigned
State Farm Center AV Specialist
- Serve as the main contact for State Farm Center LED event display. This includes all promotional graphic and animation needed for non-athletic State Farm Center LED displays.
Physical Demands
Working Conditions
- Bachelor's degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field to the position.
- Two years of professional work experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, graphics design, audio recording, video production, or a closely related professional area.
- Demonstrated experience with digital video, including format conversion for social media distribution.
- Experience working in live television and/or comparable experience in athletic video board operation, production, or direction at a professional or collegiate program.
- Experience in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects or Avid.
- Two years' experience working with one or more of the following; ESPN3, SEC Network, ESPN, BTN Student U broadcasts as a producer, director or supervisor.

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5014 - Cinematographer/Creative Video Producer position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 12/17/2023. Salary is commensurate with experience.
