Assistant Director for Clinical Education, Bloomington Specific Title Appointment Type Clinical Track Faculty Department IUSM - Bloomington (MSCI) Campus IU School of Medicine Bloomington Position Summary
Indiana University School of Medicine, Bloomington is announcing the search for an Assistant Director for Clinical Education. The IUSM-Bloomington campus is an actively growing full four-year medical school campus that currently hosts approximately 100 medical students across all four years of the Doctor of Medicine program. Additionally, the campus will tentatively enter the 2024 Match as a new IUSM graduate medical clinical site with residencies in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Family Medicine. Medical students are taught in the new IU-Bloomington Health Sciences Building, which includes interprofessional SIM Center. The campus is supported by a brand new IU Health hospital-a level 3 trauma and level 2 NICU. The IU Health Bloomington Hospital serves as a regional referral center for the entire South-Central region of Indiana.
The Assistant Director will lead and supervise the clinical Undergraduate Medical ( UME) and Graduate Medical ( GME) mission of the Center. The Assistant Director will serve as the Assistant Designated Institutional Official ( DIO) for the IUSM-Bloomington residencies and will oversee all aspects of the implementation of clinical components of the curriculum of the IUSM-Bloomington. This includes Foundations of Clinical Practice in Phase I/phase II clerkships, and Phase III required rotations and electives. The Assistant Director will have direct reporting lines to the (1) IUSM-Bloomington Associate Dean and Director, who also serves as the Chief Academic Officer for IU Health South Central Region, and (2) the Designated Institutional Official of the IUSM, located in Indianapolis. The Assistant Director will work intimately with the Director to ensure a seamless and integrated medical education continuum.
The Bloomington campus of the IUSM and the South Central Region of IU Health has a long and rich tradition of interdisciplinary collaboration with other health sciences, and the 40,000 student IU-Bloomington campus has a strong undergraduate (baccalaureate) pre-medical presence. The Assistant Director will have the opportunity to leverage community and University resources to collaborate with other health sciences and the undergraduate premed community to create a visionary and impactful footprint for the IUSM-Bloomington.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate or Terminal degree (MD or DO) is required. Active and unrestricted Indiana Medical License, dedicated educational background and training in Graduate or Undergraduate Medical Education, as demonstrated by significant educational leadership or appropriate fellowship training, Minimum 2 years experience in a leadership role in an ACGME-accredited residency program. Preference is given to candidates with experience contributing to a Program Information Form/ ACGME application. Board certified in an ABMS recognized medical specialty. Preference will be given to applicants with certification in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Family Medicine, but all specialty backgrounds will be considered.
