Description
Full-time, Non-Tenure Track position (possibility for renewal) as Assistant Lecturer of Communication Studies and Director of Debate available August 15, 2024. Primary instructional responsibilities include the ability to teach an advanced presentational design and delivery course along with classes in the major, which includes four undergraduate concentrations: organizational & professional, relational & interpersonal, advocacy & public, and entertainment & sport communication. As the Director of Debate this individual will engage in planning, budgeting, evaluating, recruiting, coaching, operating and attending tournaments; Service responsibilities include serving on departmental, college, and university committees as needed. Other duties as assigned. Teaching load is 3 classes (9 hours) in both the Fall and Spring semester and a 1 class (3 hour) reassignment for serving as Director of Debate. Potential for Summer teaching. Renewal is not automatic but depends upon excellent performance, budgetary considerations, and the needs of the university.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Communication Studies by August 1, 2024; teaching experience on the college level in undergraduate classes and evidence of excellence in teaching; at least two years of experience as a college debate coach.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate in Communication Studies. Experience as an Assistant or Director of Debate. Rank is commensurate with qualifications.
