The Assistant Director for Accommodations and Student Success helps formulate and implement program goals developed through the strategic planning process led by the Senior Director of Accessibility Resources/ ADA Compliance Officer. The position coordinates the Alternative Testing program and the use of assistive technology. Additionally, the position takes the lead in Student Success coaching, social media messaging, web design and programming efforts geared toward the retention of neurodiverse learners and students with disabilities. The position oversees the notetaking and alternative format accommodations. Other duties include compiling assessment data, using analytic tools, and identifying retention strategies to help close opportunity gaps. Additionally, the position advises student groups, participates in Orientation and resource fairs, and facilitates workshops on topics such as time management and study skills. Serves as back-up for reviewing confidential psycho-education evaluations to determine eligibility for services and appropriate academic accommodations through an interactive process.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application) in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field plus two years of professional experience working with students with disabilities in a secondary or post-secondary educational system or equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education and/or professional experience.

  • Knowledge of psycho-educational test instruments at the level necessary to review and interpret diagnostic results to determine the presence of a disability per university criteria and to determine appropriate accommodation.

  • Knowledge of complex laws pertaining to higher education and disability accommodations, such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, data privacy regulation and other appropriate laws on higher education and disability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

  • Master's degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application) in Special Education, College Student Personnel, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field plus at least two years of professional experience in a related field.

  • Familiarity with adaptive technology, notetaking software and alternative formats.

  • Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong ability to direct and organize work that requires methodical attention to detail.

  • Proficient computer skills, including MS applications (Word, Excel, Teams) and database management software.

  • Demonstrated commitment to students with diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to, students with disabilities, neurodiverse students, students of color, LGBTQ+ students, first generation students and/or international students.

Other Requirements
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
Telework: A position with a work arrangement that allows an employee to perform work on a regular basis at a telework location that is not the employee's permanent/principal work location.
Up to 20% of the time.
