Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager will be responsible for key accounting and reporting activities, including financial reporting, general accounting, controls and procedures within the accounting function at the Company, and other related activities to support the controllership function. A thoughtful professional, this person will be part of the team of eight accounting and finance colleagues. The Accounting Manager will be familiar with the rapid pace of a growth pharmaceutical company and operate with a “roll up your sleeves” approach and attitude. Responsibilities:- Oversee the Company’s financial reporting, including preparation of relevant SEC filings (Forms 10Q, 10K, 8-K etc.) with proper XBRL tagging, external filings (tax forms, governmental surveys, customer-requested deliverables, etc.) and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
- Support the Corporate Controller in the Month-End Close process and assist in reviewing of the assigned journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Lead a trial balance review, identify variances and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Assist in managing annual audit processes with external auditors
- Assist in Accounts Payable management process (approvals within the ERP systems, review and recommendations for payment proposals, etc.)
- Understand the chart of accounts and assist in maintenance of systems and controls that verify the integrity of processes and data.
- Analyze system audit reports for exceptions and recommending resolutions for their resolution.
- Assist in annual testing of process and Company level controls across the Company (as assigned).
- Manage financial processes and assigned projects (process improvements, automation, state and local tax compliance, ad hoc requests).
- Ensure that general ledger accounting complies with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), research and advise on arising technical accounting issues and applicability of new accounting standards.
- Get involved in and/or manage ad hoc accounting and finance projects and support the team in achieving best results.
- Be a trusted advisor to the Corporate Controller, Aquestive’s Leadership team; mentor members of the accounting
- Closely collaborate with the members of the accounting team to ensure best-in-class performance.
- Must be operations oriented, able to work collaboratively with each functional unit as well as Executive management.
- Must understand the business goals and objectives of the Company and the Department and be able to provide significant insight into the financial aspects of all the company’s operations.
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in accounting, business, economics or related discipline is CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of accounting experience with 3+ years managing financial reporting at a publicly traded or private equity owned company.
- A proven leader with strong technical capabilities with deep expertise in GAAP and SEC reporting; demonstrated experience in the preparation of relevant SEC/external filings.
- Strong proven technical accounting
- Experience managing accounting close process and performing related analyses.
- Experience developing and implementing finance processes, and systems; working knowledge of Workiva, Great Plains, Adaptive is a plus.
- Proven experience developing sound financial analyses, explanations and recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience developing and making presentations to C-level executives.
- Proven self-starter with experience improving finance functions; ability to work well in a team environment and across organizational disciplines.
- Understanding SOX/404 compliance requirements is a plus.
