Assistant Plant Controller
Successful custom specialty chemical manufacturer is in need of a qualified Assistant Plant Controller to analyze, prepare and issue timely and accurate monthly reports of results to parent company in accordance with corporate format (MER, Inventory Report, Order variance reporting and analysis, Waste Report, Downtime Report, Shift Yield Reports, Gross Margin Report, OEE stats etc.)
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly forecasts and annual operating plans and analyze and report deviations from plan vs actual results.
- Annual Financial audit with the external auditors.
- Coordinating and running the annual physical inventory taking at the plant and ensuring accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigate and explain book to physical adjustments.
- Cost Accounting related functions including but not limited to: performing audits of bills of materials to ensure product costs are accurate and accounted for properly; Primary FICO contact for any ECO change requests or Material Workflow requests; All month and year end close activities related to Inventory Valuations, Cost Accounting and Process Order Accounting; Material Ledger maintenance and closing; Accurate and timely Cost Center allocations for actual and plan results.
- Ensure timely and accurate input of bill of material, price code changes and regular updates and releases of standard inventory costings for purposes of accurate inventory valuations.
- Ensure bill of material and costing accurately reflect production operations with respect to targets and standards in accordance with accounting guidelines including calculating accurate machine rates on a regular basis.
- Initiate, setup and ensure all Master Data for Material #s, Cost Centers, Profit Centers, Resource Master Data, Project/Internal Orders are accurate.
- Ongoing communication with Production Management to discuss production, order variance and costing issues. Review labor and machine time reporting for accuracy and completeness as well as material costs, manufacturing overhead, distribution cost, returns and inventory levels for any discrepancies or improvement opportunities.
- Regular attendance at Material Review Board meetings to analyze potential excess and obsolete inventory items monthly.
- Regular collaboration with Production, Production Controlling, Materials Management to align master data on production orders and ensure accuracy of production data (material consumptions and time confirmations).
- Analyze internal controls to ensure adequate and compliant safeguards are in place and results of analysis are accurately reported to management.
- Support all Lean activities, including but not limited to, Analysis of anticipated and actual impact, and prepare any necessary reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting. Master’s Degree preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Plant Controller or Cost Manager in a Manufacturing environment performing Cost Accounting.
- Recent SAP FICO/Business Warehouse Module proficiency/Power User experience is strongly preferred not required.
- High level proficiency in PC spreadsheets and ERP/MRP systems
- Intermediate or advanced in Word, Excel and Power Point
- Excellent reading, writing and verbal skills
- Excellent team player
- Sound planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrated leadership as part of a cross-functional plant management team.
