Johanson Technology Inc. (JTI) is looking for an Assistant Controller for our Camarillo, CA location. JTI has over thirty years' experience specializing in the design, manufacture and sales of high-quality Power and RF ceramic chip capacitors, inductors, and Integrated Passive Components into the global electronics market.

The Assistant Controllerwill be responsible for the overall operation of the accounting department, including team management, month-end close, monthly reporting, cash forecasting and adhoc projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Supervise direct reports including staff, A/P and A/R clerks.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow projections.
  • Interact with our Tijuana factory and Hong Kong Office
  • Establish and maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures in according with GAAP
  • Ensure all technical accounting updates (GAAP) are implemented throughout the company
  • Assist in job costing and profitability analysis
  • Manage bank account balances and banking relationships.
  • Month-end process - Responsible for team completion of closing checklist timely
    • Review and upload payroll entries.
    • Prepare, review and post monthly accounting entries
    • Review monthly accruals.
    • Prepare recurring journal entries
    • Prepare monthly account analysis and reconciliations for Balance Sheet accounts.
    • Review fixed asset purchases and disposals.
  • Generate Monthly Consolidated Financial Statements by Reporting Deadlines
  • Prepare Monthly Financial Analysis, Charts and Graphs
  • Financial Modeling, Budgeting and Rolling Forecasts
  • Explain main drivers of variances in financial results
  • Manage, mentor and train assigned direct reports.
  • Assist with annual tax and audit and prepare certain supporting schedules.
  • Create work instruction training for reports and processes.
  • Oversee finance module implementation of new ERP
  • Participate in various ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed.
  • Additional or different functions may be assigned to the employee periodically.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must be analytical and able to identify issues and possible solutions.
  • Strong experience with Accounting software systems and Report writers (including implementations)
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles, accounting cycle and general ledger maintenance
  • Accurate and detail oriented, strong work ethic and able to communicate effectively with people of all levels.
  • Ability to follow, show initiative and able to work overtime and will work odd hours.
  • Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction.
  • Able to work independently as well as a team player.
  • Capable of prioritizing and determining what needs to be completed according to department needs and workload.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing requests, while keeping lines of communication open and the team satisfied.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position involves direct supervisory responsibilities and assumes complete accountability for interpreting and implementing departmental policies as well as establishing procedures.
  • Leading and motivating staff to improve customer service with internal and external customers clients.
  • Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time exempt position. Forty or more (40+) hours within a workweek.

TRAVEL - Occasional travel (5%) to the Johanson Mexico facility is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's in Administration Degree, emphasis in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years general ledger accounting experience,
  • At least one (1+) years managing an accounting department
  • At least one (1+) year experience with month-end close process
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Certified Public Accountant or Master's Degree emphasis in Accounting or related field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AX / D365
  • International experience
