Position Summary for the Assistant Controller:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting the Controller with the management of accounting, auditing, and financial reporting within the organization. Mentors and assists department team members responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions. Reviews monthly journal entries and prepares monthly account reconciliations and financial statements.

Position Responsibilities for the Assistant Controller:

The following represents the primary position responsibilities, but other related duties may be assigned to meet the organization's needs.

• Review monthly billing processes and modify as appropriate to ensure timely and accurate completion of billing and compliance with billing procedures.
• Review and post invoices, deposits, and monthly journal entries.
• Prepare cash flow reports.
• Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
• Update and maintain fixed asset and investment schedules.
• Prepare monthly financial statements.
• Mentor peer department team members.
• Assist with preparing the annual financial audit and other compliance reporting requirements.
• Assist Controller and Chief Financial Officer with special projects as necessary.
• Enhance and implement financial processes, systems, tools and control systems.
• Interact and build relationships across departments to support financial and organizational initiatives.

Required Education & Experience of Assistant Controller:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of accounting experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Assistant Controller:

• Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Passion for providing superior customer service and follow up.
• Ability to work in a team environment across various departments.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Abilities of a Assistant Controller:

• Master’s degree in Accounting, CPA and/or public accounting experience
• Previous success in a supervisory capacity
