Location/Division Specific Information:
This position is in Cincinnati, OH supporting the Pharma Services Group (PSG) Finance team at the largest OSD (Oral Solid Dose) site in PSG.
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Controller is the primary support role to the Controller in the management and oversight of all compliance and accounting activities at the Cincinnati, OH site. The role is responsible for coordinating and assisting in all month-end close activities, compliance, financial analysis, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital expenditure analysis, and financial reporting. Manage journal entries, reconciliations, and the annual close. Primary contact for the Global Business Services Group and will assess their quality of work. The Assistant Controller is responsible for the valuation and reporting of operational excellence initiatives. Demonstrated analytical, forecasting, and financial modelling skills, with the ability to translate complex situations into information that will support the profitability and growth of the business is required.

The position will report to the Controller for Cincinnati. In addition to the above, this role will support in the development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), related operational analysis, and other areas as required. The candidate will assist in providing financial analysis and recommendations to support development of the company’s overall business strategy and will receive exposure to Senior Leadership.
What you will do:
- Works closely with business segment Finance Directors, Controller, and key business Leaders to drive financial objectives and support
- Assists in the management of the month-end accounting close, ensuring accurate and timely results that are in accordance with US GAAP and the Thermo Fisher accounting policy
- Review and analyze internal financial data to identify issues, opportunities and trends to provide business owners and senior leaders with financial analysis input that will drive decision making including project profitability, productivity analysis, and return on investment
- Participate in installation and maintenance of a proper control environment and culture to limit business risk and exposures.
- Will have responsibility for proper communication between Corporate, BU and Site financial communities
- Leadership of people to implement change, understand consequences and obtain commitment through coaching, training, and clear objective setting to meet the site’s short term needs and long term ambition. Assist in the development of department members to be key leaders within the organization. Build and sustain employee engagement by creating a culture of efficient execution and an environment in which individuals and teams can excel and continuously improve.
- Collaborate with Global Business Services and the Corporate Accounting and FP&A functions
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
- Performs analysis linking operational activities with their financial impact and suggest to management ideas on related actionable improvements
- Maintains accuracy of standard costs and allocation model
- Participates in the development of the Annual Operating Plan with a key focus on: Depreciation, CAPEX Spend, Balance Sheet and Spending.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
BS/BA in Accounting/Finance. Master’s Degree Preferred
CPA or equivalent preferred
EXPERIENCE:
4-8 years of related experience, manufacturing experience preferred
