Stanley Joining Systems & Solutions ("JSS") is a division of Stanley Black & Decker that generates $2B of annual revenue. JSS trades in the Automotive, Industrial and Electronics sectors with operations concentrated in The Americas, Europe and Asia. JSS provides an innovative and diversified portfolio of fastening products and fastening solutions supported by a market leading brand range with the goal of improving our customer's efficiency and productivity.
This position will have the financial Operations Controllership will have primary responsibility for our Aerospace Fasteners Business (CAM). There will be opportunities for the Assistant Regional Controller to support the other businesses across JSS which includes our business to provide automated manufacturing solutions and engineered fasteners primarily for Electric cars & heavy equipment and Solar solutions. The Assistant Regional Controller will lead a team of 5 and will serve as a business partner to Aerospace leadership (Operations, FP&A, Sales).
The Job:
As an Assistant Regional Operations Controller, you'll be part of our CAM team working as a hybrid employee. You'll get to:

  • Business Partner & Leadership
    • Be the right-hand to the operations leadership team supplying real time information and support to aid decision making and driving value.
    • Forward looking team member that takes joint accountability for delivering financial and operational commitments.
    • Framing financial and operational issues in a complete business case format and positively contributing to the strategic direction of the business
    • Make and offer process and system improvements that will create added value.
    • Review opportunities to standardize processes and routines for the business

  • Monthly Close and Financial Reporting
    • Partner with Senior Business Leadership to supply insight and guidance for business performance
    • Guide and consolidate Monthly, Quarterly and annual results as well as budget and forecasts.
    • Support aligning responsibilities with Global Shared Services who supplies services to the business in the areas of AP, AR and General Accounting
    • Ensure that financial reporting processes are in accordance with US GAAP and Stanley Black & Decker financial policies.
    • Prepare financial reports and presentations to support the local business, the business unit and corporate requirements

  • Develop and Monitor Strong Controls in Plant and Safeguard Assets
    • Ownership of all aspects of financial management, internal controls, SOX requirements and Stanley Black & Decker requirements for the respective locations.
    • Oversee the monitoring, evaluation and coordination of the disposal of obsolete and excess inventories, including appropriate reserve requirements based on Company Policy.
    • Support the fixed asset cap-ex requisition process to ensure that requests are made in line with accounting principles and guidelines as well as company policy.
    • Team responsibility for the accurate accounting of fixed assets including tracking of Construction In-Process, physical tagging of assets once in service, and regular reviews for idle assets based on Company policy.
    • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating fixed asset inventories.

  • Standard Costing
    • Subject matter expert for development of standard costs based on Company policy. Need to review and communicate cost build-up and changes in costs with finance and non-finance personnel.

  • Bachelor's degree in a financial discipline from a four-year college/university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous experience as a Plant Controller in manufacturing operations
  • Strong standard cost and cost accounting background in a manufacturing environment.
  • A person with a strategic outlook driven to make process improvements
  • Initiative-taking and have a strong attention to detail. Able to translate functional or business needs into financial goals.
  • Demonstrated project coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in all MS Office, JD Edwards, Sage Fixed Assets, or Hyperion Financial Management a plus.
  • Well-motivated collaborator.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
  • Open to traveling to Sites to meet with Key Leaders and see operations first hand.
