JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Assistant Boys Tennis Coach
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
FLSA STATUS: Stipend Coach
REPORTS TO: Head Coach, Tom Arndt and Genevieve Atwood, Athletic Director
The Assistant Boys Tennis Coach shall have the primary responsibilities to mentor, coach and develop high school Athletes. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the Assistant Boys Tennis Coach will foster a team environment amongst the athletic community at Loyola.
Job Requirements / Essential Functions:
The Assistant Tennis Coach will help with the execution of campus wide events and initiatives that align diversity, equity and inclusion with the school's Catholic identity, mission, Ignatian Spirituality, and the school's commitments to celebrate, educate and advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. A successful candidate for the position should be able to collaborate, partner and communicate well with faculty, staff, students and community members.
  • Emphasize the values of leadership, sportsmanship and goodness, values that lie at the core of the athletic program here at Loyola Academy.
  • Consults with department heads, staff managers, and administrators to establish coordinated efforts to minimize workplace conflict; and develops resources and tools to aid Loyola Academy in fostering a culture of respect, collaboration and problem resolution.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Have previous successful club, high school or college coaching experience. Organized, hard-working and demonstrate a strong desire to develop young players. Coach will be focused on player development, implementing practice plans and other necessary functions of the program. Practices are at Mon-Sat. Matches are played on weekdays and on the weekends.

  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information, protect the assets of the institution, act ethically and with integrity, adhere to the administrative and operational policies of Loyola Academy and perform the duties of your position consistent with those policies and the institution's expectations.
  • Commitment to the principles of Jesuit education as outlined in Loyola Academy's mission statement.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling equipment of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Qualifications
  • The position requires a bachelor degree, one to three (1-3) plus years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • All coaches will be required to complete ASEP or NFHS certificate and keep up with IHSA compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Familiar with learning management systems (e.g., Blackbaud)] for education.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends.
  • Pre-Employment screening is required: criminal background check and drug testing.
