Reports to: Gallery Supervisor
Department:ECF Art Centers
Location: ECF Westside Art Center, with occasional coverage at other locations
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Gallery Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Exercises judgment and initiative to perform a wide range of gallery, archive, digital assets and website duties. As directed by the Gallery and Events Supervisor, support ECF Art Center artists’ toward their professional development in the arts and integrating artists into the broader art community as working artists.
- As assigned by Gallery Supervisor, maintain ArtEcf.Org website. This includes photographing new artwork, editing jpgs, uploading, keeping biographies up to date along with artist resumes, packaging and shipping artwork sold, and maintaining inventory.
- Maintain accurate digital inventory of all artwork shown in studios and for sale on ArtECF.org. Use database and Google Drive documents to log art and art sales, standard Gallery commission distributions, contracts, agreements, and reimbursements. Work with different sales and inventory applications that track and process artwork.
- Create monographs for ECF artists following the monograph template. Coordinate and collaborate with other ECF Art Center staff to collect artwork and information, interview artists and staff to collect pertinent information.
- Process website sales on weekly commission report using Excel. Keep accurate sales records via the Commerce section of Squarespace website. Pack and ship website inventory sold from website.
- Get to know ECF artists and ECF Art Centers via 4 visits to the studios per month, reviewing unprocessed archival documentation, processing archival materials and coordinating with ECF Art Centers Staff to collect information and data on artist’s practices.
- Generate content for ECF Art Centers and DAC Gallery Social Media accounts in compliance with the ECF Social Media Policy. Take quality digital imagery for events and publicity, post a minimum of three times a week.
- Assist with coordinating exhibitions and special events, including preparing art information cards for exhibits and assist with installations and teardown. Attend art-related events and fairs to promote the Art Center Program and artists.
- Research relevant art related juried exhibitions and grant opportunities and assist artists in completing applications, etc.
- Comply with ECF’s Injury and illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
- Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
- To provide continuity of services, exempt employees are expected to observe regular, on-site work hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience: One year in a gallery setting, experience maintaining databases and writing correspondence. Experience working with progressive art studios is a plus.
Knowledge/ Abilities/Skills:
- Basic knowledge of photography and lighting.
- Knowledge of contemporary art.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to multi-task using a high level of accuracy, prioritize and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong retail art business aptitude,
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, MS Word, Excel (spread sheets, calculations, formulas, etc.), Knowledge of Photoshop.
- Ability to accurately perform basic math calculations.
- Accurate data recording and management capabilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive issues and material.
- Maintain professional appearance, dress, and demeanor.
- Pass a DOJ background clearance.
- Provide evidence of a negative TB test.
- Obtain and maintain NCI, First Aid and CPR certification.
- Proof of auto insurance and insurable driving record for business purposes. Motorcycles are not permitted while driving for ECF, may only be used when commuting to and from your home to the main worksite.
This is a program for adults who have varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and
developmental disabilities. Employee may encounter artists who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress or behaving in an aggressive manner. Exposure to odors from acrylic
paints, oil base paints, and cleaning and mixing solutions; fine debris from ceramics; mild noise from the kiln and from instructors and artists interacting in an open space. Environment may include frequent interruptions, loud noise, varying indoor temperature, and drafts. Exposure to changes in temperature and weather conditions when travelling to art exhibits, other ECF sites, etc.

- Work in a gallery setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer.

- Regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally required to travel to various sites within Los Angeles County.
