WORK WEEK SCHEDULE
- Extensive knowledge of database structure;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel; Google Apps;
- Knowledge of and experience with large, complex databases;
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to negotiate to reach a solution to customer requests;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
- Ability to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work independently without close supervision;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail with a high level of accuracy;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system personnel, vendors, Department of Public Instruction, and outside agencies.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field (computer science, engineering, business, or mathematics) or equivalent experience;
- Excellent skills in verbal/written communications, high commitment to achieving goal and plans, strong interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills, and excellent planning and organization skills;
- Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May require emergency availability after normal work hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of SQL.
- Collaborates with various departments to meet the districts needs regarding Student Information.
- Coordinates projects working with the user community, development teams, and support groups through the requirements, development, testing, and production phases; serves as a liaison between developers and end users.
- Develops written business requirements and technical specifications needed for submission to development team.
- Collaborates with the development team as Systems Analyst to manage workflow across all platforms for Student Information Systems.
- Works with various departments to assist with provisioning of Student Information for the district.
- Manages multiple application projects simultaneously.
- Works with developers to test projects and applications throughout the development process.
- Reviews application/project issues then assigns the issue to the appropriate developer.
- Ensures deadlines are met or revised as appropriate by staying abreast of project progress.
- Ensures that communications take place between school system customers and appropriate Technology Services staff.
- Collaborates with third party vendors to ensure scope of work and specifications are defined.
- Coordinates with NC DPI to maintain state integrated systems such as Power School.
- Participates in industry and other professional networks to ensure awareness of current standards, trends, and best practices.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
