The Professional Development Support specialist reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Professional Development in the Graduate School. The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Professional Development and members of the Professional Development Team.
In this role, you will support, manage and assist with all activities and aspects relating to the Professional Development Team’s programs, events, and offerings. This role will offer the opportunity to serve as a generalist, specialist, and analyst work as there is an array of duties that involve attention detail, scheduling, organizing, data management, website updates and various other responsibilities.

- Attending team meetings and retreats to plan, discuss and implement goals and initiatives.
- Managing administrative functions associated with the position and following protocols established by
- the team.
- Working collaboratively with the team and external partners to ensure the success of professional
- development activities, events and endeavors.
- Contributing to team research and publishing projects.
- Assist the Associate Dean with the scheduling of meetings as well as other administrative tasks and projects as assigned
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Required Qualifications:- Experience and/or familiarity with Professional Development programs, organizing large events and interacting with the public.
- Experience with Collaborative tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office) or similar software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to convey information to others effectively and efficiently.
- Detail-oriented and can make a conscious effort to understand causes instead of just the effects.
- Organizational skills that involve a systematic process of structuring, integrating, coordinating task goals and activities to attain objectives.
- Collaborative, collegial attitude that promotes success for the entire Professional Development team; this role is integral to the success of the Professional Development team’s efforts and initiatives.
- Proven expertise in online course management systems such as, Moodle, Sakai, Canvas, Blackboard or similar type systems.
- Professional level experience with event, social media and website content managementa
- Project management software (ie. base camp, smartsheet, etc), or similar type systems
- Working collaboratively with a team to organize and support programs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with a wide-variety individuals, including international populations.
- Working in a higher education setting.
