Purpose
We are a team comprised of researchers, engineers, programmers, and analysts with a long history of delivering impactful solutions to national security challenges. We are looking for enthusiastic team members who will work proactively and collaboratively to deliver solutions for major Navy program and fleet offices. In this position you will learn about and develop software tools for a variety of efforts including acoustic environmental and performance modeling, simulation, signal processing, and automation (AI/ML) in the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL). Successful team members are those who are eager to learn and take the initiative to find solutions to hard problems.
Responsibilities
  • Software Development: Build and maintain software tools used for acoustic data processing and analysis, acoustic simulation, acoustic modeling and tactical decision aid. Support researchers, engineers, and analysts who utilize these tools and collaborate to make improvements and add new capabilities.
  • Data Processing and Analysis: Process sonar data through beamforming, signal and information processing strings. Assess data for characteristics which would make it of interest for research and development tasks. Perform acoustic analysis of Navy fleet active sonar data learning from experience subject matter experts. Work closely with other team members to resolve data quality issues. Identify root causes of data problems and propose remediation plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related engineering/science.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently, and effectively as a member of a diverse team.
  • Proficient use of computer systems including Linux and Windows.

Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GUI design and development.
  • Experience with Linux and open source software tools for creation, testing, version control, and documenting development of software.
  • Two or more years of application development
  • Prior work experience in professional or research-oriented software development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: acoustics, signal processing, detection theory, pattern recognition and classification or information processing.
  • Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Salary Range
$78,000-$120,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications
