What’s the role?
Trading & Supply Products (TSP) is at the heart of Shell’s Downstream business. TSP has the primary responsibility of managing and optimizing the physical supply chain as well as creating value though proprietary trading. Our goal is to create value for the Shell bottom line, by maximizing the overall value potential across different lines of business and portfolios by delivering the right product to the right place on time at the maximum margin potential.
The Global Fuel Oil trading team purchases barrels of various qualities from numerous refiners and third parties (including Shell Manufacturing assets). Barrels are hedged with financial instruments such as futures and swaps which are also traded to express market views. Product is shipped to destinations via pipeline, tanker, barge, rail or truck. Decisions are taken whether to store the barrels in various tankage locations around the world or blend to certain fuel oil specifications before supplying terminals, wholesalers and other third parties (including Shell supply locations) finished product throughout the world, with a goal to maximize profitability.
The core role of the Americas Market Analyst will be to develop and run regional supply demand balances, as well as hone other tools that contribute towards our Trading strategy. It will require that this individual be able to make inferences with incomplete data sets and make calls on production and demand. The Analyst will integrate within the Trading team and be an integral member of our team. This individual will need to be willing to intellectually curious regarding markets and behavioral economics and a self-starter.
What we need from you
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience required. Engineering, Economics or Statistic degree preferred.
- Experience in modelling and coding
The base salary range for this position is $134,000 - $200,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
