Job Description
Are you a skilled American Sign Language Interpreter looking for a meaningful opportunity to facilitate communication and support the educational journey of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals? Our client partners with educational agencies to provide quality education to children with visual impairments. Their critical services are in high need, and they are bringing on more highly dedicated ASL Interpreters.
Responsibilities
- Interpreting: Standard and Deaf-Blind
- Interpret for teacher/parent meetings, trainings, and internal meetings.
- Establish positive relationships with students, staff, and off-site agencies.
- Assess and adjust interpreting situations based on student needs. Provide remote or in-person interpreting services for deaf/hard of hearing and deaf-blind students.
- Facilitate communication for Deaf-Blind individuals with or without an Intervener
Qualifications and Skills
- **REQUIRED:** EIPA, ESSE, RID, or NIC certification with a minimum score of 3.0 or higher.
- **Preferred:** A.A. or B.A. Degree in Deaf Studies or related field.
- Familiarity with Google Suite.
- Demonstrates frustration tolerance, emotional maturity, stability, and ability to perform under stress.
- Flexibility in work assignments.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, cooperation, tact, and discretion.
- Willingness to learn new skills and obtain light training in Braille and intervention.
