At least one of the following is required:
- RID Cert
- 4.0 EIPA
- ESSE-I/R assessment
- NAD/ACCI assessment
Pay range: $32-$39/hr
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate munication between Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and teachers by providing accurate ASL interpretation.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure students have equal access to information and participate fully in the curriculum.
- Adapt teaching materials and strategies to meet the individual needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
- Support students during extracurricular activities, assemblies, and events to ensure their inclusion.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with students, staff, and parents.
- Assist in creating an accessible and weling environment for students with hearing impairments.
- Collaborate with other support staff and educators to enhance the overall learning experience.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a deep understanding of Deaf culture.
- Experience working as an interpreter in educational settings, preferably in a school environment.
- Strong munication skills, both in ASL and spoken English, to effectively convey plex concepts.
- Ability to establish rapport with students and create a supportive atmosphere.
- Flexibility to adapt to various subjects and classroom dynamics.
- Familiarity with educational terminology and strategies for working with students with hearing impairments.
