Alternate QC Manager (Floater)
Our company is currently seeking a full-time Alternate QC Manager (Floater) to fill in as needed at job sites around the country, and/or short duration projects. Potential candidates must be experienced, technically proficient, and a Federal Market (as opposed to civil work) Construction professional with a belief in teamwork for projects. This person would be part of a project team managing the execution of the work being performed by their subcontractors. Travel is up to 75%.
Overall Responsibilities
- Responsible for efficient and accurate control and data management of project submittals.
- Assists and supports site Quality Control Managers and Operations team with the coordination, development, follow up and processing of all government required submittals.
- Field support (travel) of Corp of Engineers projects as Alternate QC Manager for short durations of time.
- Complete submittals as required for current, as well as other projects requiring assistance.
- Periodically travel to project sites to provide support as Alternate QC Manager for short durations of time.
- Develop and Administer the Quality Control Plan for the project (following Army Corps Three Phases of Control).
- Certify submittals are in compliance with contract requirements.
- Review plans and specifications to ensure requirements are met for each construction process.
- Provide documented evaluations, assessments, and CQC assistance to staff and subcontractor personnel.
- Review all catalog cuts and material submittals for compliance with plans and specifications.
- Ensure all water, soil, materials, and mechanical systems testing are conducted by approved personnel and/or approved testing agencies.
- Distribute written inspection/test results to appropriate agencies.
- Ensure effective and timely preventive and corrective actions are taken and recurrence of problems are eliminated or minimized.
- Conduct pre final inspections/ establish punch list if required, ensure all deficiencies are corrected.
- Coordinate and conduct final inspections with government contracting and civil engineer personnel.
- Submit as-builts on finished projects.
- Division 1 project start-up/pre-construction submittals.
- Submittals required for the execution of the project.
- Closeout submittals to include operation and maintenance manuals,development of form DD 1354 and coordination of closeout records and reports.
- Interacts with project site team to identify specific submittals that require Submittal Administrator actions.
- Assume responsibility of identified submittals. Interact with site managers and subcontractors and provide compliant submittals to site QCM for final review.
- Distributes submittals after approval to subcontractors.and subsequent submittal actions until approval.
- Tracks incoming submittals from sub-contractors to AMES 1, submittal review comments from AMES 1 to subcontractors, submittal upload to RMS,Government response, and subsequent submittal actions until approval.
- 7-10+ years in vertical construction experience required AND 5+ years on projects $1M or greater as project Quality Control Manager, in the federal construction, DoD environment.
- In depth understanding of all construction divisions. Knowledge of construction i.e., prints, plans, procedures, scheduling, and testing.
- Current certification in Construction Quality Management for Contractors from the U.S.Army Corps of Engineers.
- Experience and ability to manage the Army Corp of Engineers RMS fo resubmitting daily reports, tracking deficiencies, submitting FRI, submitting material and product submittals.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid RMS knowledge and skills.
- Stable job history.
- Must have easy access to a centrally located, commercial airport, with multiple flight options.
- Must treat others with dignity and respect.
- OSHA 30 Certified
- CPR 1st Aid training and Certification
- Current CQM a must
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to maneuver around construction sites with uneven surfaces.
- Ability to work outside in variable weather climates and conditions - both cold and heat.
- Ability to climb – including ladders, roofs, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 60-80 lbs.
- Able to travel by vehicle and/or by plane for up 3-4 weeks at a time.
- Able to travel up to 75%.
