Title: Aircraft Paint Technician
Location: Indianapolis, IN (Airport KEYE)
Reports to: Director of Maintenance

Job Summary:
The Aircraft Paint Technician will work with various maintenance team members to effectively prepare and paint aircraft component assemblies and other parts, to prepare aircraft for FAA inspection and return to flight service.
Core Schedule:
  • Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Some evening or weekend overtime may be required for various events and initiatives.
Compensation Package:
  • Starting hourly wage of $25.00 – $30.00 per hour depending on experience and location.
  • This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and will be paid at time and one half for any overtime hours worked.
Day in the Life:
  • Mask surface areas, such as bearing surfaces, machined areas, or areas close to tolerance holes to protect unintended metal removal.
  • Prepare and inspect aircraft exterior components for any damage or defects before applying coatings including removal and documenting such damage or defects on a maintenance work request worksheet.
  • Remove various existing Aircraft Paint/coating by various mechanical and manual methods: sanding; Scrapping with nonmetallic tools; degreasers; solvents; Sandpaper, etc.
  • Coordinate with manager for inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, signoffs and quality specifications.
  • Offer continuous improvement ideas and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Plan, layout and modify complex configurations to the coating on composite assemblies and ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Able to maintain tools in good order and a clean workstation.
  • Take on additional projects and tasks as needed to support business growth and change.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What will make you successful:
  • Knowledge of coating materials including painting trade and methods of mixing paint colors.
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • At least 2 years of experience in Aircraft Painting preferred.
  • Experience in aircraft industry preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Employees must be able to work on their own, with great attention to detail, in a professional manner.
  • Effective at organizing, planning, and prioritizing work with high attention to detail.
  • Tenacious self-starter with a mature outlook. Proven ability to operate independently and achieve results; enthusiastic, committed and conscientious.
