Join our team leading transformation of the AFRL Special Programs Division. We are looking for a Division Chief in the XPT Special Programs Division.
Position Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Serves as Chief of the Special Programs Division and the Assistant to the Commander for Special Programs (ACSP).
  • Serves as the AFRL Commander's Special Access Program (SAP) technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and principal advisor for SAP insight and awareness across the Air, Space, and Cyber domains of the US Air Force and US Space Force.
  • Establishes policies and processes for executing all Special Programs (SAR and joint SAR/SCI) functions.
  • Principal advocate for Special Program technology and developers within AFRL as well as for cross-directorate technologies to meet Special Program technology needs.
  • Establishes and maintains internal and external relationships to include HHQ, Air Staff, sister-services, and other DoD agencies.
  • Oversees support to the AF Technology Executive Officer (TEO) related to POM for and execution of Special Program related activities across the AFRL enterprise.
  • Oversees execution of SAP security compliance inspections on Center SAP activities, in coordination with and direction from HHQ to assess security health and compliance of AFRL SAP related activities, in accordance with applicable DoD, AF, and AFMC policies.

Required Qualifications
  • Engineering (0800): To meet eligibility of the engineering series, applicants must meet the following basic requirements: Degree in Engineering. The program must have been ABET accredited.   • Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system. Based on unique work environment and special program requirements and processes, position requires Special Access Program/Special Access Required (SAP/SAR) experience involving developmental planning, program management, and/or program execution
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. The incumbent may be subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing
  • This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position and requires a Level 2 certification (Practitioner). The selected has 36 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants are encouraged to list any acquisition certifications in their resume
  • In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee is required to file and OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually
  • Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
  • This position may require travel.

  • This position requires consent to a Counter-Intelligence Polygraph.

Desired Qualifications
  • This position is open to Science and Engineering (S&E) professionals.
  • For current internal AFRL employees, a rotational agreement between HQ AFRL and TD may be considered.
  • Served as a first level supervisor for a minimum of three years.
  • Field level experience executing a special program activity.
  • TPS grad or hands-on flight test experience.
  • Program Element Monitor (PEM) experience.
  • MAJCOM level policy and instruction development experience.
  • Experience coordinating, preparing, and presenting reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Experience cultivating and sustaining a professional environment of cooperation, cohesion, and teamwork.
