The Strategy and Operations Internship offers access to the business operations of an emerging biotech company. The successful candidate will inform business strategy through research, modeling, and direct support of scale-up operations. As we are a small company, this role works directly with team leaders and occasionally the CEO. The role requires a fundamental understanding of STEM concepts, a firm grasp of business finance, and the social acumen to work with project stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
This is a paid, 20-40 hr/wk, on-site position in Downtown Los Angeles, CA.
Minimum Requirements:
• Enrolled in or recent graduate from MBA program, OR equivalent business experience
• Prior degree in a STEM field, OR
• Demonstrated experience or interest in the cosmetics or biomedical industry
• Capable of revenue modeling, market sizing and business opportunity analysis
• Familiarity with financial statements, including accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP), basic analysis, and modeling based on gathered data
• Understanding of the due diligence process for V.C. investment, product licensing, and M&A
• Exceptional writing skills and comfort drafting both internal and public facing communications
• Capable of efficiently and concisely organizing internal progress or varied stakeholder interactions into brief format
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to prepare presentations and present information independently to project stakeholders
• Proficiency with MS Office and Google Workspace
Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform market access research and opportunity analysis
• Forecast revenue across several markets and production scales
• Identify and evaluate potential partners for scaled supply chain, production, and distribution, providing actionable recommendations for paths forward
• Work with company advisors on mid to long term operational planning, building adaptive strategies for product success
• Interface with marketing experts to generate data-driven pitches for internal use, investor meetings, or potential M&A activities
• Research regulatory guidelines and provide recommendations for general compliance
• Present data, research topics, or product information to the team or external partners
• Coordinate with management to draft important documents, presentations, and other materials
• Cultivate a working knowledge of company technologies, demonstrating a willingness to internalize scientific concepts
• Support the growth and development of AesculaTech as a whole, contributing to projects or processes that are important for the company even if they are not covered by the responsibilities listed above
