Job description

The Energy Commission seeks a Legal Analyst in the Chief Counsel's Office. Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the Legal Analyst provides paralegal and legal analytical support to attorneys engaged in administrative adjudications, funding programs, and regulatory development in support of the CEC's mission to lead the state to a 100% clean energy future for all. The incumbent assists in preparing routine legal drafts, edits legal correspondence and briefs to ensure accuracy and Compliance with accepted standards, corresponds with clients, the general public and staff at all levels of the Energy Commission. The Legal Analyst will assist attorneys with Public Records Act requests, responses to applications for confidentiality, and perform other related legal support work. The Legal Analyst will also be responsible for preparing the administrative record for any California Environmental Quality Act-related litigation and should have specific experience or interest in doing so. The incumbent works as an assistant to attorneys and can be delegated difficult and complex paralegal duties which are analytical in nature.

Working Conditions
The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.
