Your Specific Responsibilities:

To screen for STDs and to provide medical care for inmates with HIV and STD diseases at selected prisons. Care includes but is not limited to assessing, diagnosing, treating, referring and prescribing medications for patients.  Reviewing medical records and identifying care needs, a problem focused history and physical exam, management of medications, ordering appropriate lab tests, following current guidelines for HIV and STD treatment, treatment of HIV , STDS and opportunistic infections and management of adverse events related to medications.

 

Document clinical findings in the medical record and enter data into an electronic medical system. This individual will be responsible in supervisory duties such as assisting with hiring and selection, helping developing performance plans, conducing performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action and updates as appropriate.

 

Provides training and guidance to practitioners working in HIV and STD clinics in prisons either in person or by telephone.

 

Work with Pharmacy to ensure drug formulary is current following HIV/STD protocols.

 

Responds to questions from prison physicians regarding treatment. Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.

 

Complete Employee Activity Records (EARs) system billing forms and time sheets within time frames. Check e-mail on a regular basis and respond as appropriate.

Minimum –

Certification as an Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse, Incumbent in this position will be dispatched to work in any Miami-Dade Correctional Institution (prison).
