As a Advanced Coatings Specialistin the Application team at PPG's state-of-the-art Global Applications Research Lab, you will play a pivotal role in supporting activities focused on the improvement and development of new coatings application technologies and processes. Your work will be instrumental in advancing our capabilities in areas such as robotics and automation, driving innovation in the coatings industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow latest technology development on automated and robotic application of coating materials, and educate team members on how to integrate them into our own process
- Design the characterization of application performance for water-based, solvent-based, or 100% solids coating platforms.
- Designing and/or utilizing equipment to mimic customer application conditions, and evaluating novel application technology.
- Understanding customers’ challenges in the field of coatings application, propose solutions to fix the problems
- Adapt application methods to apply existing and emerging coating technologies.
- Equipment design, modification, and/or integration of sophisticated processes.
- Maintain and operate in a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- A MS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering field is required. Eight years of industrial process related experience is required.
- BS degree with 12+ years of experience will be considered as well.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to work well independently or collaboratively with multi-functional teams.
- Proficient knowledge of Sigma Logic and Experimental Design is required. Coding and computer language skills are preferred.
- 15 to 20% travel expected.
