The Durham Emergency Communications Center works to provide City and County residents the fastest, most-efficient emergency call response possible while ensuring the safety of our police, fire and emergency medical services responders. Our state-of-the art center was the first, and currently one of only three, in the nation to hold both emergency medical dispatch accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies and Project 33 agency training program certification from APCO International. This position is part of the Business Services team within Durham 9-1-1 and is responsible for coordinating administrative support functions for the department. The position oversees all timekeeping and procurement functions, as well as provide overall customer service for the department. This also includes assisting in hiring tasks such as communicating with applicants, scheduling interviews, compiling documentation, and following up with selected candidates to keep pre-screening and onboarding on track.

- Receives, prepares, processes and verifies transactions including submitting financial documentation such as invoices, credit card expenses, travel authorizations and/or purchasing requisitions; or processes and assigns service work orders.
- Enters data for reports, databases, work orders, payroll and/or tracking information; retrieves and compiles data.
- Monitors transactions for progress and performs research as required.
- Prepares and produces documents, reports and/or presentations from verbal information and/or written drafts; provides general administrative support to staff and/or projects.
- Receives, processes and routes calls into the Durham 9-1-1 Administrative Offices.
Opens, logs and processes mail. - Corresponds with job applicants, schedules interviews, and prepares documentation for hire requests.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC)
- Two years of related clerical/administrative support experience.
