SALARY:
The salary range for this position is $73,838.98 to $115,075.98 for Schedule A, and $73,838.98 to $109,322.18 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The Passaic Vicinage is seeking a professional self-starter to serve as an Administrative Specialist 4 (Court Mediator) in the Family Division. Under the general direction of the Assistant Family Division Manager and/or other high level supervisory officer, the selected candidate will be responsible for mediating children in court cases; custody and parenting time mediation; case conferencing; conduct Parent Education classes; and serve as backup to the Domestic Violence and/or Child Support Hearing Officers. The candidate will also mentor and coach other lower-level professional employees; maintain accurate records, submit monthly statistical reports; implement legislative enactments and court rules relating to case processing; plan implementation of projects or programs; develop communication plans within or outside the organization; participate in statewide subcommittees; keep up to date on current trends, laws and rules; perform other related duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a graduate degree or certification of advanced training in a behavioral or social science and completion of a recognized mediation training program consisting of 40 hours of instruction and four years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: mediation, counseling, family intake, crisis intervention, custody/visitation dispute investigations and/or child support. This professional experience shall have included supervised clinical experience in mediation.

Substitution: At the discretion of the Assignment Judge relevant experience may be substituted for either the graduate degree or clinical experience, or both.

Note: In special circumstances and at the request of the Assignment Judge, the Administrative Office of the Courts may temporarily approve for a one year period an applicant who has not yet completed the specialized family mediation training, provided the applicant has at least three years of experience as a Mediator or a combination of mediation experience and service in Family Part, has co-mediated in a CDR program with an experienced family mediator, and certifies to the intention to complete the specialized training within one year following the temporary approval.

Supplemental Information

Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.
Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
