Job description

Under the general supervision of the Presiding Worker's Compensation Judge (PWCJ), the Office Services Supervisor III (OSS III), trains, plans, organizes, directs the work, and is responsible for the supervision of Office Services Supervisor II (OSSII), Office Services Supervisor I (OSSI), Office Technicians (OTs), student assistants, and other clerical staff. The OSS III will also perform clerical duties as needed and is expected to have a working knowledge of the Electronic Adjudication Management System (EAMS).

The OSSIII works in an air-conditioned office building with natural and artificial lighting as well as temperature control. In addition, the incumbent works in a cubicle in close proximity to others. The position is required to work extensively on computers as necessary for drafting documents, conducting research, drafting email communication, and other purposes.
The Marina del Rey office is located at Lincoln Blvd. and Mindanao Way in the Marina Square Shopping Center. It is conveniently located within walking distance to several supermarkets and restaurants including Trader Joe's, Pavilions, Peets Coffee, Susie Cakes, Chipotle, Shake Shack, and California Pizza Kitchen. The Burton Chase Park is also within walking distance, as is Fisherman's Wharf.

Department Information
The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.

Special Requirements
The OSSIII must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff at all levels within and outside of DIR and DWC. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, adapt to changes in priority of assignments, read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions, have good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
