SalaryThe Riverside County Sheriff's Office seeks to fill current vacancies for the position of Sheriff Court Services Assistant IwithCourt Services West in Riverside. The incumbent will be responsible for performing specialized civil legal clerical support. Tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Tracking, preparing, and processing legal documents from court orders for numerous civil legal actions;
- Providing procedural and case information to the public, litigants, law enforcement officials and/or other employees;
- Receiving, examining, filing, and maintaining legal documents;
- Processing claims, invoices, purchase orders, payments, and warrants;
- Reception duties, answering phone calls, and customer service over the counter;
- Heavy data entry responsibilities; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Candidates with a typing speed of at least 45 words per minute are strongly desired.
The ideal candidates will possess strong organizational skills as well as the ability to multitask. Competitive candidates will possess previous legal experience in a court and/or law office environment, as well as experience handling cases such as processing evictions, restraining orders, and wage garnishments.
Sheriff's Court Services Assistant I is the entry level classification in the Sheriff's Court Services Assistant series and reports to a supervisory or manager level position. Incumbents are responsible for learning legal terminology and to prepare, examine and process legal documents in support of Sheriff's Court Services, utilizing journey level clerical skills and limited application of specialized civil legal procedures and processes.
The Sheriff's Court Services Assistant I is a natural progression underfill for the Sheriff's Court Services Assistant II classification. Incumbents are expected to progress to the Sheriff's Court Services Assistant II after satisfactory job performance and meeting the minimum qualifications.
