Performs high-level secretarial duties in an efficient and effective manner, in accordance with the Department objectives, assuring optimal secretarial services are provided to the highest level of productivity. Her/his activities contribute significantly to the smooth running of the overall Department. Provides clerical support for the Radiation Oncology Department. Insure entry of appropriate patient information and utilization of correct patient account. Obtains authorization for patient’s treatments, exams, and other referrals as needed. Completes Administrative Coordinator duties for the Department administrative director, medical director(s), and physicians.

- Typing skills: 50 words per minute
- General Office skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of insurance carriers and approval process
- Statistical data collection, time management, organization, and record keeping.
- Computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word Suite (Excel and Power-Point)
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Creative writing skills
- Telephone etiquette (able to handle busy phones)
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Required Experience
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Typing and computer skills
Preferred:
- One year of progressively responsible secretarial experience required, with one year of experience in a medical/administrative office preferred.
- Bilingual - Spanish
