Position Summary:
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Department of Residence Life invites applications for an Administrative Assistant II to serve as a public contact point for the department. This position will provide administrative support for the Department of Residence Life, consisting of professional staff, students, and subordinate supervisors in support of unit goals.
This is a full-time, benefit and paid leave eligible position. Wage is $17.00/hour.
Responsibilities:
- Functions as office assistant for the Department of Residence Life.
- Serves as a first point of contact for individuals and groups, provides basic organizational information via phone, in person and through other communication mediums, and routes more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities
- Maintains calendars and schedules logistics by securing resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations
- Maintains positive and productive contact with staff, students, parents and visitors.
- Provides information concerning the Department of Residence Life in accordance with established procedures, policies and practices.
- Collects, analyzes, prepares, and/or assists other administrative staff with various communication materials including year-round informational memos to students, office mail and posters utilizing technology mediums.
- Completes billing and fund transactions utilizing Residence Life online software program.
- Assists in maintaining inventory and office supplies for the Department of Residence Life and the 13 residence halls.
- Provides back up support for student payroll.
- Manages reservation and billing process for student accounts for items such as lofts, bike lockers, air conditioners, online sanctions etc.
- Coordinates with assistant directors regarding administrative details for student staff selection processes
- Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures under general supervision
- Maintains established methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to work operations according to established policies and procedures

- High School Diploma/GED
- Ability to follow directions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to develop proficiency with specialized university software programs necessary to perform the duties required for this position
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and confidentially with students, faculty, staff, administration, and external constituents.
- Attention to detail
- Ability and desire to learn new tools and skills
- Ability to troubleshoot administrative and technical issues
