We are actively hiring a caring and compassionate weekend Activities Assistant to join our team at Lasell House, our skilled nursing facility.
This is a part-time position working Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Activities Coordinator and the Administrator, the Activities Assistant conducts activities for all levels of functioning residents. Coordinates and implements routine duties and activities for the unit. Quality customer service is a top priority for everyone at the Village.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assists with the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of varying levels of activities for Nursing Home residents and rehab patients
· Be aware of individual cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial impairments
· Distribute daily newsletter and update room boards.
· Conducts one-on-one activity visits to offer sensory/social stimulation.
· Conducts a variety of activity groups (creative activities such as arts, crafts, music, drama, educational activities, exercise activities, spiritual) to ensure residents make progress toward their goals
· Communicates with residents and staff regarding activities to encourage participation
· Assists with resident transportation to/from the activity location
· Assures personal and staff compliance to Resident’s Rights
· Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· 1-2 years of direct experience working with the senior population in a skilled nursing facility.
· Associates Degree or higher
JOB SKILLS:
· Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
· Ability to create a variety of creative programming for different cognitive levels
· Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
· Sufficient computer skills to record data, create and print calendars and flyers
· Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/staff, and the general public
· Thrive in a team environment and work well with others
· Must have patience, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
